Guatemala’s private sector developed a proposal to increase formal employment opportunities in the upcoming four years
The Coordinator Committee of Commerce, Industry and Financial Associations (CACIF, for its acronym in Spanish) organized the sixth edition of its “Labor Congress”, seeking to promote compliance of international labor standards and the creation of more formal employment opportunities in the country.
During the event, CACIF presented its plan to increase employment generation to the attendees, which included representatives of political parties and current government authorities. The objective of this plan is to establish a national policy to make generation of formal employment a key priority in the country.
The Labor Congress also included different conferences and discussion panels to analyze labor-related topics like the establishment of a job-generation goal for the period 2020-2023, a legislative agenda to ease employment and modernize the labor market, retainment policies, among others.
