Handmade Guatemalan products on the radar of boutique shops, museums and other North American and European stores
New World Crafts, AGEXPORT’s most important fair for handmade products in Central America, is ready to display unique products with cultural identity, designed and made by Guatemalan and Central American artisans, designers and entrepreneurs.
With 11 consecutive years of being organized, New World Crafts is nowadays the perfect scenario to promote and launch new handmade products. On this 2018 edition, we developed an mobile app to be able to self-manage business meetings and establish links between supply and demand of the products we are promoting, said Mrs. Luisa Villavicencio, president of AGEXPORT’s Handmade commission.
Mrs. Villavicencio also remarked that among other innovations present at the 11th edition of New World Crafts, which will take place on September 18-19, 2018 at Casa Santo Domingo Hotel in Antigua Guatemala, it will have a “Handmade Fashion Show” where seven Guatemalan high-fashion designers will showcase around 100 garments and accessories that mix cultural touches and high-added value to compete on the main runways in the world.
The event is also a great opportunity for exhibitors to display their latest collections. New World Crafts will have 112 stands for pottery products, carpets, basketry, jewelry, ceramics, textiles and fashion clothes. Additionally, Honduras and El Salvador will have special pavilions, said Mrs. Villavicencio.
New World Craft will host four conferences on key competitiveness topics, focused on associations and handmade-products companies. The topics covered on these conferences are: Innovation-based artisan products and its popularity; building successful relations with artisans; leading and maximizing profits and social impact; and fashion innovation.
