AGEXPORT transformed lives of 1,200 young Guatemalans with scholarships to work at the Contact Center & BPO industry
AGEXPORT’s Contact Center & BPO department, with support from the European Union’s “More Competitive Cooperatives and SMEs” (MCC+) program, organized a scholarship fair on October 12th, 2018.
This scholarship was part of a special program called “Finishing School Certification for Call Center Representatives”, which offers scholarships to improve English levels and opt for a job at a call center company. Participants awarded with these scholarships will be subject to an intensive methodology that has been proven successful to prepare more than 3,500 Guatemalans during the last 30 months and has raised the income of more than 21,000 individuals.
Thanks to the support of the European Union and its MCC+ program, more than 1,200 Guatemalans are being benefitted on 2018 and 2019 with different tools to be more competitive and obtain high-quality jobs with salaries higher than the minimum wage. This offers the opportunity to continue their personal development, pursuing higher education and seeking a better future.
We thank the European Union for their continuous trust in our program as a tool to develop the capabilities of our talent pool in English, which is nowadays a vital tool to compete and obtain a job. We call all young Guatemalans to participate in our program and be able to successfully join in just 10 weeks the outsourcing industry, said Mrs. Ninoshka Linde, manager of AGEXPORT’s Contact Center & BPO sector.
All applicants for these scholarships need to demonstrate a 40% spoken and written English level, present their personal identification document (DPI), high-school diploma and have between 18 and 29 years-old.
The Finishing School course lasts 400 hours of intensive-English training, distributed on 8 hours from Monday to Friday for 10 weeks and is taught at the Technical Institute for Training and Productivity (INTECAP, for its acronym in Spanish), located in zone 5 of Guatemala City.
Since the start of the program on October 2015, the Finishing School program has transformed the lives of over 3,500 young Guatemalans, of which more than 85% have been immediately located along one of the companies of our industry, remarked Mrs. Linde.
