The US Agency for International Development (USAID) launched its newest project in Guatemala: ‘Creating Economic Opportunities’, focusing on Guatemala’s highlands and in which AGEXPORT is a key partner for its execution.
This initiative seeks to create new investments on value chains, financial services and education on the Western Highlands region.
For its implementation, USAID awarded the Project to the firm Palladium International (based in the US), which would work side-by-side with Guatemalan partners such as AGEXPORT, FUNDESA, Grupos Gestores and Precon.
The project is scheduled to last five years and generate 50,000 new employment opportunities by linking small and medium enterprises with worldwide markets.
The project’s launch event gathered key figures such as Guatemala’s president Jimmy Morales, the US Ambassador in Guatemala Luis Arreaga, ministers, members of AGEXPORT’s Directory Board, as well as leaders from other public and private institutions.
