AGEXPORT awarded the Exporting Firm of 2018
AGEXPORT along with the Exports Promotion Council (CONAPEX, for its acronym in Spanish), awarded different exporting companies at the 30th edition of the National Exports Awards. Companies like Transportes Aereos Guatemaltecos, Alimentos, S.A.; Textiles Gran Fe and Café Hacienda Yalipur were recognized as the best companies in their industries (services, manufacturing, garments and textiles, and agriculture and fishing, respectively). Among them, AGEXPORT’s Directory Board and members of CONAPEX chose the Guatemalan airline Transportes Aereos Guatemaltecos (TAG) as the “Exporting Firm of 2018”.
For more than three decades, Guatemala has seen how exports have been the way for the country to achieve a higher social and economic development. At the event, we displayed different stories of Guatemalan businessmen all over the country that generate export-quality products and services. Despite the conditions that the country faces, these businesses continue writing their success stories with the belief that Guatemalans have the right to keep moving forward and their contribution to the country are their exported products and services, said Mr. Antonio Malouf, AGEXPORT’s president.
Mr. Malouf announced that AGEXPORT is currently drafting a document with different public policies and government programs that would boost the country’s economic growth and create employment opportunities through the generation of higher exports. This document will be presented to all political parties that plan to participate on the 2019 General Elections.
We are developing this document as a contribution to Guatemala and to the presidential candidates and their teams. We hope they consider it a valuable input for their government plans, remarked Mr. Malouf.
