A total of 13 international delegations participated at Guatemala’s 1st Aquaculture Symposium

exportaciones de camarón y tilapia de Guatemala

On June 6, 7 and 8, 2018, AGEXPORT organized the first Aquaculture Symposium, displaying success stories of Guatemala and the Central American region on this industry.

This event gathered more than 500 participants, from university students to producers and exporters of aquaculture-related products. Topics of the Symposium included technology, innovation and current business opportunities, remarked Mr. Juan Carlos Bolaños, president of AGEXPORT’s Aquaculture and Fishing division.

The Symposium also included specific events related with shrimp and tilapia production, with 24 top-level national and international speakers.

This event became an international success as we had more than 13 international delegations from countries like Honduras, Mexico, Ecuador, El Salvador, Brazil, Belgium, Israel and Peru. With these results, it is clear that the aquaculture industry is of great interest in the entire region, remarked Mr. Bolaños.

AGEXPORT and its Aquaculture and Fishing division are already planning the 2nd edition of this Symposium, which will take place on 2020. For more information on how to be part of this international event, please contact simposiodeacuiculturagt@agexport.org.gt
