ASPIRE project: Co-creation workshops

The ASPIRE Project is in its final phase of the process for the development of research proposals for the pea and cardamom sector. This is a process that consisted of 3 phases, most of which were carried out in 2022, between AGEXPORT and the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG). Both institutions provided ideas and criteria on the needs in research topics to improve value chains.

The Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) formed a multidisciplinary research team as part of the first phase, which consisted of raising different perspectives and opinions to establish the course of action for the preparation of proposals. Then, in phase 2, the team, with the support of AGEXPORT, carried out different activities to be able to materialize the ideas.

Agexport organized different visits to producers linked to the prioritized value chains to inform the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) team of their main processes and activities, with a view to strengthening the understanding of the sectors in relation to their breach and opportunities.

Currently, the research proposal process is in phase 3, where AGEXPORT has linked different actors from the value chains with the UVG team and thus be able to form a multisectoral research team that will present a relevant, pertinent proposal that make a positive impact. This proposal will be presented to USAID to qualify for implementation funds.
