With the objective of contributing to the economic and social development of the country, through business leadership, the Committee of Women Exporters of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters -AGEXPORT- participated in the II Meeting of Women Cooperative an event developed by the Guatemalan Confederation of Cooperative Federations -CONFECOOP-.
During the activity, Jennifer Mendoza Salas, Member of the Committee of Women Exporters of AGEXPORT, made a presentation to explain the inclusion of women in production chains and entrepreneurship, as well as the importance of investing in them.
“According to the World Bank, investing in women is essential for sustainable development, reducing poverty and generating prosperity. For its part, the International Monetary Fund considers that when women earn more and have a significant income, investment in health and education increases, positively affecting the economy,” Mendoza said.
Projects executed
AGEXPORT has executed different projects focused on the economic empowerment of women. Some of these projects are:
- Improvement of the Competitiveness of 742 Women’s Microenterprises in the Cardamom Region.
- Irrigation System. This project benefited 131 women vegetable producers (Central Highlands of Guatemala).
- Garifuna Women’s Enterprises.
“I invite you to look beyond your entrepreneurship, which can reach international markets. In AGEXPORT they have an ally to develop their businesses through exports”, highlighted Mendoza.
In this way, the AGEXPORT Committee of Women Exporters promotes their efforts, which seek to facilitate actions focused on business generation and business strengthening for women exporters, working together on new proposals to transform companies and business units.
