AGEXPORT and their participation in the project Tejiendo Paz

With the objective of reducing social conflict and violence, as well as improving social cohesion and building peace in the country, specifically in the Western Highlands, the Guatemalan Association of Exporters -AGEXPORT- maintains its participation in the Weaving Peace project.

AGEXPORT’s participation in the project, which began in 2023, contributes to the economic empowerment of 375 women. Said empowerment is achieved through different productive and business activities, thus generating income and capacities for women to develop as entrepreneurs.

In this way, Tejiendo Paz has planned, for 23 months, the following:

  • Consolidate 25 rural microenterprises.
  • Develop business skills.
  • Give training workshops.
  • Provide advice on business management.

Finally, the project seeks to contribute to the generation of businesses at the local level for the 25 micro-enterprises formed.

What are the key actions to comply with the sustainability of each microenterprise?

  • Identify marketing channels.
  • Make a business plan, considering that it must be basic.
  • Identify potential buyers.
  • Develop the business image.
  • Carry out fairs, locally, to search for businesses.

The realization of this project, financed by the United States Agency for International Development -USAID, for its acronym in English- and led by the organization Creative Associates, strengthens territories of the Western Highlands, providing specific coverage in the departments of San Marcos, Totonicapán, Quiché, and Huehuetenango. At the same time, AGEXPORT maintains its commitment to participate in Tejiendo Paz, mediating processes and initiatives designed to strengthen microenterprises.
