The International Labor Organization’s Convention 175 on Part-Time Labor

In AGEXPORT, we celebrate that young Guatemalans, citizens with special capabilities, mothers and elderly received legal certainty on a topic we all were waiting for and continuously requested the authorities: being able to opt for part-time jobs with legal protection and guarantees that they will enjoy all benefits and compensations established by law.

We also recognize the strong efforts from the Labor Ministry and President Jimmy Morales to create formal job opportunities by easing labor regulations and allow workers and employers to agree on part-time shifts with all legal benefits and compensations. It is also important to mention the efforts made firstly by the National Congress to ratify the International Labor Organization’s 175 Convention on Part-Time Labor.
