AGEXPORT trained 30 technicians on specialty coffees on its 17th edition of the Differentiated Coffees Certification Program
AGEXPORT’s Specialty Coffees Commission and the Foreign Trade School organized the 17th edition of the Differentiated Coffees Certification Program, jointly with the Rafael Landivar University.
This year, we received more than 30 participants, including owners of small businesses, managers, investors and university students. They all had the common interest of learning about specialty coffees and the unique characteristics of Guatemalan coffees. In addition, this year we had more women planning to take the lead in coffee businesses; said Mr. Sergio Mazariegos, coordinator of AGEXPORT’s Specialty Coffees Commission.
Topics taught at this certification program included international market opportunities for Guatemalan coffees, techniques and tools to produce top quality coffee, coffee tasting and how to use it to commercialize coffee, price interpretation and trends at the stock exchange and site visits; among other topics.
Apart from the topics covered on the certification program, each participant will receive special advisory sessions which would focus on taking business ideas internationally, said Mr. Mazariegos.
