AGEXPORT joined Somos el Agro, a strategic alliance that is made up of more than 40 institutions and whose purpose is to make different political parties aware of the importance of the agri-food sector in the face of the current 2023 electoral process.
In Somos el Agro, an initiative that was integrated by the Cámara del Agro, different allies participate such as: producer union organizations, companies, cooperatives, manufacturers, formulators, marketers, transporters, restaurants, and suppliers. All with the same purpose: to contribute to the well-being, development, and sustainability of Guatemala.

“Guatemala has added flavor, quality, and innovation on the table of international consumers. In addition, the creativity of exporters has led them to position the country as a center for gourmet-type agricultural products. These national products are used in prestigious restaurants worldwide”, indicated Estuardo Castro, Director of the Board of Directors and of the Committee of Peas and Vegetables of AGEXPORT.
What is the proposal of Somos el Agro?
The allies propose 2 fundamental priorities so that, in an effective way, jobs and the national economy are increased. These 2 priorities addressed to political parties are:
- Infrastructure for employment and investment.
- Security to be able to live and produce in peace.
The proposal promoted by Somos el Agro would have a significant result for Guatemala, with stable highways, rural roads, ports, and airports, as well as minimizing extortion, theft of products, invasions, and smuggling, because #SomosAGEXPORT
