For her support of other women and contribution to the economic development of artisans, as well as for being a Guatemalan social entrepreneur who has excelled inside and outside of Guatemala for her outstanding projects and business models, Wakami, which for 18 years has worked hand in hand with artisans and rural businesswomen to open cycles of prosperity.
This company has exported to more than 20 countries, among them: Japan, the United States and Costa Rica.
In addition, she has developed two replicable and transferable methodologies that allow the incorporation of new people into value chains; 4 value chains that make it possible to create an impact by working in the forestry, natural fiber, regenerative agriculture and handmade products fields.
From 2020 to 2022, more than 50 MiSMEs have been incorporated into Wakami’s national and international value chains, generating income for more than 1,000 rural families.
